Top 7 Best Free Web Hosting Sites (2021 Updated)
In recent years, free web hosting has seen a surge in popularity.
It’s easy to understand why, with all the expenses involved in running a website that is successful, it can be tempting to cut costs to keep your budget within reach.
What’s more affordable than web hosting?
But, it’s not quite…
Web hosts that are free don’t always deliver what they claim. Your new site may not be able to function due to the strict restrictions placed on bandwidth, storage capacity and server uptime.
We don’t recommend hosting services that are free. It is much better to find a reliable shared host at a low price, like Bluehost.com which is also ranked highly in our “best Web Hosting” page.
Don’t worry if you don’t have the budget. We’ve already done all the legwork for you. This review will help you choose the right hosting option for your website.
Let’s get started:
1. Hostinger.com
Hosting that is “Almost Free” (from $0.99/mo)
Included is a sub-domain | Yes |
Bandwidth | 100GB |
Disk Space | 10GB |
Support | Chat Live 24/7 |
Maximum. Websites: | 1 |
Maximum. Maximum. | 1 |
Speed & Uptime: | Very good |
There are limitations | Terms of Use |
Official site: | www.Hostinger.cobm |
Hostinger is a dominant player in the free web hosting market, with a client base of nearly 16 million people spread across 178 nations.
Okay, they’re technically not “free “…”.
They are still among the most affordable web hosts, with a shared hosting plan that costs $0.99 per month.
They are also the fastest with an average load time of 355ms, which is the second-best we have recorded.
This is just the tip.
Even the most basic plan comes with plenty of goodies, including:
- 1 MySQL database
- 1 FTP user
- Access to their website builder
- Install WordPress or any other CMS in one click
- 24/7 Customer Support (truly, it’s the best!)
- 100GB Bandwidth, 10GB Disk Space
- One email account free
You can also upgrade to their premium shared hosting plans if your site’s needs exceed the limitations of their basic plan.
These include:
- Unlimitted websites
- Unlimited email accounts
- Unlimited bandwidth
- Weekly memory backups
- No cost domain
Limitations
Hostinger’s user interface does not give you access to the classic cPanel. This was one of our biggest annoyances while reviewing it.
Instead, you will get the slightly less expensive made-in-house interface known as the CPanel.
Although it’s not our favourite user interface, we are hard-pressed to hold them responsible considering their exceptional speeds, customer service, and features.
Hostinger’s 2019 “shared Plan” average uptime & load time:
Hostinger is one of the best “almost free” hosts we have ever reviewed. It offers some of the fastest speeds and uptimes we’ve ever seen.

“Zero cost web hosting using PHP, MySQL, and cPanel with no ads!”
Hostinger’s partner company 000webhost.com has this slogan. It is one of the most highly rated, free web hosts in the entire world.
If it sounds a little too good for you, IT IS!
Yes, 000WebHost has impressive speeds for shared-free hosts. Their no-ads policy ensures a cleaner and friendlier user experience.
These two factors are not enough to compensate the many other limitations.
*Note: In 2015, 000WebHost suffered a major security breach in which the private information of more 13,000,000 customers was leaked.
Limitations
We experienced many issues while reviewing 000WebHost. None were more frustrating or common than their completely unusable uptimes.
Your site will experience an average downtime of 99.70% so you should expect at least one hour of downtime every week. Consider all the traffic you could lose each month and how many sales it might cause.
You are also limited to 3GB bandwidth and 300MB disk space. You also have no live chat or email support available to help you in the unlikely event of a problem with your service.
This is the average uptime and load times for 000WebHost in 2019:
We cannot recommend 000WebHost to any except it is absolutely necessary.

3. InfinityFree.

Maximum. Websites: | 400 |
Maximum. Maximum. | None |
Uptime and Speed: | Good |

Official site: | InfinityFree.net |
InfinityFree has a small customer base of just over 300,000.
Despite having a small client base they have managed to establish a reputation as the best web host available.
Despite the fact that you may encounter some issues with their service, it is a well-deserved reputation.
InfinityFree includes the following:
- All plans include a free SSL certificate (a verynice bonus).
- No front-end advertising
- No cost Cloudflare CDN
- 1 FTP account
- Unlimited storage and bandwidth
- 400 MySQL databases
InfinityFree offers a huge bang for your unpaid bucks.
However, it’s worth reading through their terms and conditions of service and acceptable usage policies to find out more.
Limitations
InfinityFree does not advertise on their website that they offer unlimited bandwidth and storage space with very limited restrictions.
They place restrictions on what content and files can be uploaded in their terms and service. It is also unclear what the “unlimited” bandwidth offers are.
The best part?
Non-compliance to the “unlimited” offer limitations can result in the suspension or exclusion of your website and data.
InfinityFree no longer offers email accounts. InfinityFree used to offer 10 email accounts, but they have since removed them. This is due to the features being extremely limited and having multiple issues, such as only 10MB storage per account, emails not getting delivered due to bad IP reputation, and so on. They can be reached at
Here is InfinityFree’s 2019 free plan average load time and uptime:
Their uptime is generally good. However, this January we had over 40 hours of downtime.
4. Sites.Google.com

Although they are well-known for their search engine and other online products like Sheets, Docs and Gmail, they also offer a free website building tool since 2008. In 2016, the website builder was completely rebuilt and hosts more than 70,000 active websites.
It is completely free to use, just like other Google products.
You can use responsive templates and drag and drop editing to embed HTML and Javascript. There are also integrations with many of their other services (Drive, Maps and Calendar).
Google Sites also offers a subdomain for free with an SSL certificate.
Limitations
However, it’s not perfect. The styling options are limited. It is impossible to add custom CSS to the site or even to import fonts from the Goole Fonts catalogue.
You cannot also host Google Adsense ads because of the limited SEO options.
We are still testing the actual uptimes, load times and reliability of GoogleSites hosting. However, we have seen other reviews on the site that suggest it is reliable and fast.

5. 5.

Official site: | www.AwardSpace.com |
AwardSpace is a top-rated free web hosting provider with over 2.5 million customers. This has been 17 years.
One of the best features is:
- Hosting to the MySQL database is 100% free of ads
- Customer service available 24/7 (a welcome bonus).
- Installation of a CMS (WordPress/Joomla), in one click
- Guaranteed uptime of 99%
It all looks incredible, right?
However, there are some questionable aspects to the product.
Limitations
While AwardSpace is able to do a few things right, there are many issues with their free hosting that prevent them from being a viable option for serious webmasters.
Free users have a 1 GB disk space limit and 5 GB bandwidth. This means your new site will only be a demo of AwardSpace’s premium hosting plans.
You may also find some disconcerting legal jargon in their TOS, which appears to allow them to sell your data to third parties.
It doesn’t really matter because the greatest problem with AwardSpace is its abysmally large downtime, which averages more than an hour per week.
Here are AwardSpace’s 2019 average uptime and load times for the free plan:

FreeHosting.com, a European company with a decade of experience in web hosting and over 15,000 customers has seen its growth exponentially. However, popularity and performance don’t always correlate as we have seen repeatedly.
You also get unlimited bandwidth (provided your website meets their stringent acceptable usage policy) and the following
- Multilingual cPanel
- One email account, 10GB disk space
- MySQL Database
FreeHosting.com appears to be one of the best free hosts.
It is obvious that FreeHosting’s service has many technical problems.
Limitations
FreeHosting.com has a terrible load time that borders on 2 seconds. It’s also one of the most unresponsive web hosts. There are many customer complaints about deleted websites, non-responsive customer support and other promises that they make but fail to keep.
This is the average uptime and load times for FreeHosting in 2019:
FreeHosting.com has some of the most unreliable uptimes and slowest connections we have ever seen. We recommend you to avoid them at all costs.

Speed & Uptime: | Bad |

Official site: | www.freehostia.com |
Freehostia stands out from the rest of the pack with its unique plan names. Who knew that you could purchase “Chocolate” web hosting? They also offer load-balanced clusters of servers, which allow for faster load times across all company assets.
These “features” are not enough to improve the hosting experience.
They have received many positive reviews for their customer service in recent years. They offer up to 5 hosted domains and 3 email accounts (a rare opportunity in free web hosting). These attractive offers won’t be enough to compensate for the performance and restrictions that will apply.
Limitations
Freehostia’s free hosting has its problems. They place restrictions on storage and bandwidth.
Even the most minimalist webmasters won’t be able to create a site with more than a few images or plain text. With only 250MB storage and 6GB bandwidth, it is difficult to make a website that has more than a few photos and a few lines of text.
The real nail in the coffin is the slow speeds and unreliable uptimes.
Freehostia may work well for hosting a test site or a low-traffic blog.
Here is the 2019 Freehostia average uptime and load times:
While the load times and uptimes are not the worst, they’re still quite bad. However, there’s no reason for Freehostia to be used when so many decent service providers are available.
Why we recommend avoiding free hosting services
We have shared some of the best providers, but even the most respected ones can’t keep their word. They instead present slow and sometimes unusable websites to their customers, which is not likely to be successful in today’s online market.
They can also delete your website or online business within seconds leaving you without control.
Does this mean there is no hope for low-budget webmasters?
But not quite…
The Best Alternatives to Free Web Hosting
Although they may talk big, you will end up with a barebones website. Their services do not meet the basic requirements to have a website that is profitable.
Even with tight bandwidth and storage restrictions, basic features such as email accounts or website installation are still available.
You can still get reliable and fast hosting for a fraction of the cost with unlimited bandwidth and storage. This is due to technological advances and increased competition in the market.
You can actually buy web hosting for as low as $100 with the many discounts available to new customers and other offers.
It is not reliable to use a free host for your personal blog or business. The best advice is to move to cheaper hosting plans. There are many affordable and reliable options. Hosting companies you can find our category anywhere in the World. Hosting Advice
