Huawei Watch 4 Pro in for review

The Huawei Watch 4 series was launched in May with two models. The basic Watch 4 comes in black with a fluoroelastomer strap, while the Pro comes with a titanium alloy case and two strap choices – leather or titanium.

We got a fully Titanium option for review, and it arrived with promises of more functional widgets and long battery life.

Huawei uses the same retail box design since the first Watch GT in 2018. The Watch 4 Pro comes in a classic box, accompanied by additional strap elements, a magnetic wireless charger, and some warranty-related paperwork.

The Watch 4 Pro is incredibly beautiful with a curved domed 1.5” LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. It has a bezel around the screen, while the strap has a new design that looks and feels better than any other Huawei smartwatch, even the almighty Watch Ultimate.

One big change in the Watch 4 series is Harmony 3.0 with its redesigned widgets. The default watch face has the planet Earth, in the center of your location, but we chose a more complicated solution. Now we can see heart rate, sleep results and weather in a refined way that is easier to understand at a glance.

Some key features of the Huawei Watch 4 Pro are eSIM and standalone GPS. The duo of buttons on the right side works as expected – the upper one is rotatable for easier navigation, and the lower one is metal and conductive, enabling ECG recording.

Huawei has priced the Watch 4 Pro at €700/£600, making it one of the most expensive smartwatches around. This is understandable, given the superb craftsmanship, choice of materials and rich set of features. You also get the promise of an ultra-long battery life that should deliver 21 days on a single charge.

We’ll be running our extensive tests to see if it’s worth the price, so stay tuned!
